The town of Komatiepoort flourishes as a railway, custom and tourism centre, and is situated in the Kruger Lowveld region of Mpumalanga in South Africa.
Geography and History
Komatiepoort sits at the point where the Crocodile River becomes a tributary of the Komati on the Western slope of the Lebombo Mountains. The town is 8km from the Crocodile Bridge Gate into the Kruger National Park, and just 5km from the Mozambique border.
Komatiepoort is one of South Africa’s hottest towns, with the winter averaging 26 degrees C and the summer's averaging 33 degrees C. The most prominent crops here are subtropical fruits.
